Hi Guys! I’m Penny Lou creator, Louise Hodgson and for as long as I can remember I’ve always had a spark of creativity and loved anything hands on. I have held down various nine-to-five jobs over the years. But, after suddenly losing my father then a few years later my brother, it became apparent to me that I needed to be spending my days doing something I truly loved as time was not a given. So, I blew the dust off my 20 year old sewing machine mum had bought me many years ago and started sewing my first raglan tee. It all started with that raglan.
I love to create casual, classy and comfortable clothing for women. I pay particular attention to the fabrics I choose and create styles that flatter my WHOLE size range, not just the smallest. I design the clothing here in Nelson, NZ and sample it myself for the perfect fit. I try to source most of my fabrics within NZ and when I can’t do something myself I will contract services locally. I am a believer in keeping things within NZ as much as possible to support our economy. I also donate a portion of my sales to Arthritis NZ, an organisation close to my heart. Read more here
So, forgive me for sounding cliché but I guess you could say Penny Lou is clothing with a conscience!
